I received an email from a player asking my opinion on an alto trombone being sold on Reverb.com.
The item was interesting, for one reason, because it is being offered for only $299. Even the Moz horn from China that I’ve written about has become much more expensive than that, at least from the last time I checked.
But what most caught my attention was the description of the horn:
“Cylindrical Bore and a Telescopic Slide with which the Player varies the Length of the Tube to Change Pitches.”
That description is certainly true, but it seems odd coming from someone selling a trombone, presumably knowing what it is. It sounds more like how an alien to our planet might describe a trombone.
I just thought that was interesting.
